IMBA UK is holding its 2010 annual conference "From the Roots to the Shoots" on the 10th September, in the superb Tweed Valley, south Scotland - the heartland of the world famous 7stanes and home of Scottish mountain biking.

IMBA UK is delighted to present an exciting programme of speakers and workshops, to give delegates an opportunity to hear first hand experience from experts and practitioners from across the UK. The conference is hosted by Mike Van Abel the CEO of IMBA in the US, and he will be bringing his knowledge and enthusiasm to the event.
Key will be the chance to learn about the extraordinary growth of mountain biking and the opportunities that this affords to mountain bikers, the community, and to local businesses.
The importance of tourism as a driver for mountain bike developments is well understood, and we will have important presentations about two massive projects, the hugely successful 7stanes and the equally ambitious 1SW, afternoon sessions will allow further in-depth discussion and the chance to pick the brains of practitioners and activists.
We will hear from the Glentress Trail Fairies, volunteers who regularly work on trail maintenance, and find out why volunteers are vital to the long-term sustainability and success of mountain biking.
The importance of mountain biking for young people, and how it can contribute to their health and well-being will be explored.
This conference is a must for anyone actively involved in promoting mountain biking and participation; managing existing or planning to create new facilities; as well as those involved in health promotion and education. Don't miss this chance to join us in celebrating the best of UK mountain biking.
The Conference takes place at the Macdonald Cadrona Hotel near Peebles. Conference rates start at £40 for IMBA members and £60 for others attendees. Accommodation packages start at £100, for IMBA UK members, to include the Conference, B&B and conference dinner on Friday night. A range of packages are available.
