The Best of Both Worlds website is intended to provide good practice guidance to people whose recreation relies on sites that are sensitive for nature conservation and/or cultural heritage reasons, and for those who manage such sites. The underlying philosophy to the Best of Both Worlds initative is that attempting to resolve disputes between outdoor recreation and heritage management should not be seen a trade-off, where one interest loses and the other gains. Rather, it proposes that there is usually a win-win solution, in which all interests can benefit, it's just a case of looking for it. Natural England, CCPR and the Countryside Council for Wales are the website sponsors and developers. They believe such an approach is the best in the long-run for securing access by promoting the idea of a common set of principles by which difficulties can be resolved.
